I have applied for the Khulla and would like to know what happens next, this is a very common question and the simple answer is that we will start the process and issue the 1st Notice within 24 Hours or 48 Hours if it happens to be a weekend, we will of course let you know if we receive any response from the respondent.

FAST TRACK

If however you have applied using the fast track or urgent priority service due to compelling reasons, such as long term separation or your life is in danger, or even if the husband has abandoned you for several years and you have tried to contact him without avail and you do not know his whereabouts, then the process is slightly different, first of all the process would be concluded within 4 weeks, we would write to the respondent (husband) just the once (if we are given his contact information), if he responds and agrees then we can usually conclude matters within a week, but if he chooses not to respond or claims he has not received the notice then we would simply issue the certificate after the process has concluded within 4 weeks for the applicant as we do believe it would be unfair to keep them waiting for no real logical reasons as everyone deserves closure.

Aslkm dear sisters, I hope Insh Allah Allah makes your journey easy. I would like to say the process of the Khulla application was quite easy and straight forward to complete and the all the notices and emails were always prompt with response. The council advised me that my email for the reasons for Khulla not to be shared with my husband to avoid friction, which I felt was an appropriate guidance as this avoided further difficulties and it would not achieve anything. The only improvement I would say if the council could recommend mediators following the Khulla which would help with keeping the family stable with regards to Islamic advise to avoid future difficulties as families are in all kinds of situations and some guidance in the right direction would reduce instability. However, I understand this is something that is out of the remit. May Allah reward all the individuals working for the council for helping us through this difficult process. Ameen

This supposed council is not registered as a charity or registered as a business with HMRC. They also do not disclose who the scholars are on the panel. I am trying to apply for a khula because me and my husband separated and he has moved abroad. I feel this council is not sufficient enough. This is very close to a scam.
